2.Laminated Foil

Usually, a monolayer film is not sufficient to meet the performance requirements of fruit and vegetable juice spout pouches. To ensure reliable protection and product stability, this pouch is made with a PET/AL/PET/LDPE laminated structure, providing enhanced barrier properties against moisture, oxygen, and light.

This laminated material is widely used in liquid packaging applications where strength and safety are essential, making it a suitable solution for fruit and vegetable juice spout pouches that require durability, freshness protection, and consistent packaging performance.

Please note, all the film materials, inks, and adhesives applied in our flexible packaging are certificated human food safety. Then, let’s get into more understanding of each of the substrate films.

PET12 is widely used in flexible packaging due to its excellent mechanical strength and dimensional stability. As an outer layer material, PET provides a smooth surface for high quality printing, helping packaging achieve clear graphics and strong visual appeal.

In addition, PET offers good heat resistance and durability, allowing the pouch to maintain its shape during processing, transportation, and storage. Its stable performance makes PET a reliable material choice for various laminated packaging structures, especially for liquid and food packaging applications.

Aluminum foil is a key barrier material widely used in flexible packaging applications. It provides outstanding protection against oxygen, moisture, light, and odors, helping to effectively preserve product freshness, flavor, and quality.

With its excellent barrier performance and good forming properties, aluminum foil enhances the overall strength and reliability of laminated packaging structures. This makes AL especially suitable for liquid and food packaging that requires high protection levels and extended shelf life.

LDPE is commonly used as the inner sealing layer in flexible packaging structures. It offers excellent heat sealing performance and good flexibility, ensuring secure seals and reliable leak resistance for liquid packaging applications.

As a food contact material, LDPE provides good chemical stability and safety, making it suitable for direct contact with liquid and semi liquid products. Its softness and durability also help improve pouch handling and overall packaging reliability.

3 Properties and Quality Assurance

3.1 Exquisite print quality

The artwork is printed through gravure printing on our rotogravure print press which can print up to a maximumly 10 colors. With advanced print techniques and a print defects inspection system, we are now outputting fantastic print results against customers’ artwork.

In our manufacturing plant, we take serious measures to achieve high color fidelity and consistency for repeated print orders, and here we will give an overall introduction.

a.  Color Analyzer

This color analyzer is one of the auxiliary tools in our system to achieve the highest standard for color fidelity. The eXact Advanced doesn’t just validate the color of CMYK and spot color inks, it can simultaneously measure four M modes to visualize the spectral reflectance of a substrate or ink, measure the concentration of a specific ink, and measure the difference of a substrate or ink over white and over black.

b. Pantone Color Code

The pantone color guide would be so helpful to locate a specific color for the printing service supplier and the customers, especially if there is a large area printed in single Pantone color. For many Pantone colors, the accuracy may be influenced by the printer, paper substrate, and environmental factors when it is printed onto physical photo paper. Pantone Color Code will be located in the artwork design with the customers before the order is put into production.

c. Physically Printed on Photo Paper

The computer files such as JPG, PDF, PSD, AI etc cannot be taken as the guide to determine the color in print produce, as they present the colors through electronic screening devices. And different electronic screens may be set in different parameters by the various manufacturers, which will inevitably interfere with the color presentation. Artwork can only be a reliable guide when printed on physical substrate, with the most common photo paper applied.

3.2 Excellent standup effect

With a reinforced laminated material structure, this pouch offers improved strength and reliable barrier performance, allowing it to maintain an excellent standing appearance when filled with 100 grams of fruit and vegetable juice. The stable shape and clean presentation help enhance shelf display and overall product appeal. The image below shows the actual standing effect of the filled pouch.

3.3 Great Mechanical Strength

The self-standing spout pouch will have to protect the 100 grams of fruits yoghurt in a fine situation during transit and distribution. You can easily imagine how problematic it can be when a stand-up pouch ruptures, causing product leakage and contaminating the surrounding area.

We put the mechanical strength on the top list of our QC work, and there are serious measures and tests taken in our plant, to ensure each and every of the pouches delivered to the customer site is accountable.

Put simply, a drop test should be considered one of the most reliable ways to check if the spout pouch is robust enough for protection purposes. Usually, we fill a certain amount of water into the spout bag, and drop it from a certain height, and see whether it breaks when the filled pouch reaches the ground. Of course, the height should be decided against the requirements of the customer’s needs.

3.4 Eye-catching Effect

This 100ml juice spout pouch immediately catches the eye on the shelf with its bright, vibrant colors. Its lively and colorful design enhances shelf visibility, naturally attracting consumer attention and helping the product stand out among competitors.

3.5 Good Dimension Stability

There is an increasing requirement for the dimension stability of the spout pouch when the manufacturers and packers are going to improve the production efficiency with high-speed filling lines. We have quite a good understanding of this and are doing our job to narrow the tolerance of the dimensions for each order produced in our long-term supply. Usually for the 100 grams spout bag, the tolerance should be controlled within +-1%, which will run well on most of the high-speed filling machineries in the market.

4 Quality Control Measures

Serious quality control measures have been taken in our manufacturing plant, to ensure each order is finished meeting the requirements of particular customers. With more than ten years of working experience in this field, we finalize this QC manual standard, to make sure each order is produced following the correct procedure.

4.1 Manufacturing Traceback

We apply a strict recording system to document the manufacturing details, such as environmental conditions, craftsmanship parameters, production facility conditions, etc, which allows us to trace back whenever there is a problem.

4.2 QC Test Report Against Each Order

There will be a QC test report issued against each order produced in our plant, with some main items of the properties tested and listed. This is an effective way to get the customers settled on their packages, and highly appreciated by our customers.

4.3 Print Inspection

In our manufacturing plant, the print inspection is always taken and done in a serious way, as we will never allow the customer’s artwork to be achieved in a way that deteriorates their business. On our gravure print press, there is in-line inspection system that can eliminate more than 98% of the defects in the printing process.

There is also a supplementary off-line inspection equipment, to allow us to do the print inspection again whenever it seems necessary.

We are now producing spout bags against customer artwork, and we surely love to support the startup and market-testing period for our customers. We will accept a minimum order quantity of 30,000 bags printed against customer artwork design.

4.4 Airtight Property Test

The finished spout pouch should be completely airtight, otherwise the product may deteriorate under the conditions of oxygen and moisture in the environment. The closure will need to be screwed tightly onto the spout during the filling process when it is done at the customer site.

Here, we apply airtight property test on this capped spout pouch under the minus-pressure environment, and this proves to be the most reliable way in our industry to check if the package is completely tight from the air.

4.5 Drop Test

Drop test should be considered as a very reliable way to check if the coffee bag strength is enough to meet the various conditions, as it copies the way when the products falls off the good shelves, and the finished bag will suffer great sudden shock. In our daily QC work, We perform drop test against each order, of course, the standard for this drop test should be decided against customer needs.

Here, we are going to drop the filled coffee bag from 1.6m high, for 5 times.

After 5 drops for each bag, none of them breaks,  all are fine and dandy.

4.6 Anti-Pressure Test

Pressure-resistance test is another effective method to decide if the final package will serve as great protection for the products, especially liquid products, like household detergent liquids, and windshield washer fluids.

The leakage or breakage of the bag will surely be a disaster, either for the distributor or the manufacturer.  We will never expect this thing happens in our customer’s business.

Sometimes, for easier and fast operation, we may just get one person to stand on the well-sealed and inflated coffee bag, to check if there is any burst of them.

4.7 Laboratory Tests

Laboratory tests are essential to keep us updated with the intrinsic properties of the foil materials which are not visible to the human eyes. It is crucial to gain a thorough understanding of the data about the production of our bags. The craftsmanship can be improved bit by bit to pursue premium quality bags based on thorough analysis and application of these data. 4.8 Third-party Inspection

Third-party inspection is available for all our orders on agreed standards or regulations.

5 Human Food Safety

All the film materials, inks, adhesives, and solvents used to convert into kinds of food bags and packaging materials will comply with the regulations for human food safety. 8 More Sustainable Options

With the growing global concern over plastic pollution, an increasing number of manufacturers are shifting toward more sustainable packaging solutions, such as compostable film materials, recyclable mono-material packaging, and plant-based material structures. Compared with traditional plastic films-typically derived from fossil-based chemicals and difficult to recycle or degrade in the natural environment-these alternatives offer a significantly more eco-friendly and sustainable approach.

Here, we are going to share some of the trending sustainable packages for the coffee market.

8.1 Compostable film material packages

Here, we are going to introduce the main performance of these compostable materials pouches.

a. Compostable

All the film materials we adapt are certificated compostable, under home or industrial conditions, complying with the standards EN 13432 or ASTM 6400.

The films will present different biodegradation behaviors under different conditions, such as industrial composting facilities, home and garden conditions, and nature soil conditions.

In most cases, industrial composting will be able to achieve a faster biodegradation of the compostable film materials than other composting progress, as it is able to provide better conditions.

Some manufacturers would like to have a better biodegradation behavior of their own compostable packages under nature soil conditions, as in most cases, the abandoned package may not be recycled into human composting facilities.

b. High-barrier performance pouches

Through vacuum metallization, PVDC coating, and AlOx/SiOx depositing, the compostable films can be achieved with better barrier performance, such as water vapor transmission rate (short as WVTR) and Oxygen Transmission Rate (short as OTR). Later on, we will combine several layers of the barrier film and convert into laminate foil, with an improved barrier property for finished packages.odles, or soup products

c. Alkaline Resistant

We added a controlled amount of bleaching powder into compostable pouches with different foil structures and stored them at 40–45 °C to accelerate aging.

The results show that these compostable pouches are suitable for alkaline dry products, such as household detergent powder and hand-wash cubes. However, they are not recommended for liquid detergents or other liquid cleaning chemicals.

d. Frozen Treatment

The compostable pouches can be well intended for frozen treatment for some food products, and the mechanical property of the frozen pouch still works well as good protection for the products during the transportation and distribution process.

8.2 Mono Materials Recyclable Pouch Packages

Mono-material pouch packaging is made primarily from a single polymer family, such as polyethylene (PE) or polypropylene (PP). Because all layers use the same material, these pouches can be easily collected, sorted, and recycled through existing recycling systems.

Unlike traditional multilayer laminates (e.g. PET/LDPE), which are difficult to recycle due to incompatible melting conditions, mono-material pouches can be efficiently reprocessed into plastic granules for reuse. As a result, they are increasingly popular and well accepted in the market.

Currently, mono-material pouches are mainly categorized into PE-based and PP-based structures, with PE solutions being more widely used due to their flexibility and strong performance in stand-up pouch applications.
