Most commonly used compostable multilayer foil material appears in 2-layer structure and triplex structure, with most functions as below.
- Outter print substrate film
- Middle layer: working as support layer or barrier layer
- Inner layer: working as inner sealing layer.
We are finalizing some fantastic compostable multilayer foil structures for our customers, and here we are going to introduce them one by one.
BOPLA/PLA Compostable Foil
In this foil structure, BOPLA film works as outer print substrate film and mechanical support layer, with PLA working as inner sealing layer. This foil laminate becomes one of the most common used rolls and standing pouch packages for most products that do not need higher barrier performance.

Cellophane/PLA Environmental Friendly Foil
With great clarity for cellulose film, it can be well-intended for the outer print film substrate.So when the printed cellulose film is laminated with PLA blown film, the high temperature resistance property of cellulose film will be able to realize a more smooth surface during the heat sealing process during bag-making produce.
Kraft Paper/PLA Biodegradable Foil
Kraft paper is able to provide good mechanical strength and fantastic stiffness for a standing pouch package, and when it is laminated with PLA film, the final compostable foil laminate is able to meet the requirements for many products that do not need high barrier protection.
Kraft paper can be printed with water-based ink by gravure or flexo printing, which is able to present more environmental friendly packages.
Kraft Paper/BOPLA Sustanainable Foil
Compared to Kraft paper/PLA foil, Kraft Paper/BOPLA mutilalyer foil is able to provide better stiffness and standing effect. However, the sealing strength achieved by inner BOPLA film is usually not good as inner PLA film, so usually, Kraft paper/BOPLA biodegradable foil laminate can only be intended for light packages.
As of good clarity for BOPLA film, this Kraft Paper/BOPLA eco-friendly foil can be enabled with a clear front window for standing pouch.
Metallized Paper/PLA Plant-Based Foil
Compared with kraft paper, the barrier performance for aluminum metallized paper is largely improved as of the thin layer of aluminum atoms deposited on the pretreated paper surface. When metallized paper is further laminated with PLA sealing layer, the foil materials can be well intended for some products that may need to be well protected against moisture or oxygen.
Upon our experience, this Metallized Paper/PLA Foil can be well-intended as light packages for some products, like dry nuts and snacks.
Metallized Paper/BOPLA Foil
Metallized paper/BOPLA biodegradable foil is able to provide better stiffness and standing effect than Metallized Paper/PLA foil laminate.
Cellulose/Metallized Paper/PLA Foil
With good clarity and printability, clear cellulose film can be a good print substrate film for complicate artwork up to 10 colors, and the artwork can be printed on the inner side of the cellulose film by gravure print in our facility.
Metallized paper can be a good barrier layer and middle bone layer for this foil structure, and this Cellulose/Metallized Paper/PLA Foil can be processed into standup pouch packages with quite great standing effect.
Cellulose/Metallized Cellulose/PLA Biodegradable Foil
This Cellulose/Metallized Cellulose/PLA biodegradable foil is a perfect foil structure for the products that needs to be well protected against sunlight, moisture and oxygen in the outside environments. Further more, with good stiffness, this foil laminate can be further converted into kinds of standing bag packages with great standing effect on the goods shelf.
Metallized Paper/Cellulose/PLA eco-friendly Foil
This Metallized Paper/Cellulose/PLA eco-friendly triplex foil is able to provide great mechanical strength and high barrier performance for the final standing bag packages, and it is proved by our customers to be a perfect compostable package for roasted coffee beans.
Kraft Paper/Metallized Cellulose/PLA Triplex Compostable Foil
This Kraft Paper/Metallized Cellulose/PLA Triplex Compostable Foil is similar to Metallized Paper/Cellulose/PLA eco-friendly Foil. Both paper and cellulose film can be metallized, and both paper and cellulose film can be working as an outer print layer.
Kraft Paper/Cellulose/PLA Renewable Packaging Foil
This triplex Kraft Paper/Cellulose/PLA renewable packaging foil is well intended for standing pouch packages for many products with a good standing effect. Kraft paper works as outer print layer, which can be printed with water-based ink in flexo or gravure method, and it is able to achieve the final packages in a more environmentally friendly way.

Kraft Paper/BOPLA/PLA Foil Material
BOPLA film is of great mechanical strength and anti-puncture ability, so this Kraft Paper/BOPLA/PLA triplex foil material is able to present much better mechanical strength and stiffness than kraft paper/PLA foil laminate.
Kraft Paper/PLA/PLA Film Material
In some applications, Kraft paper/PLA/PLA 3-layer film material is needed to achieve reinforced performance against kraft paper/PLA foil materials.
